Yvonne Price

Yvonne PriceRegion 2 Representative

I ran for election as an NEC member in November 2007 after receiving support from the AEP following allegations made against me by managers in my workplace as a result of, I believe, my trade union activities as the local union representative. I wanted to repay the AEP and offer support to members in the same position that I had once found myself in.

I felt that, if elected to the NEC, my unfortunate experiences and the (rightful) consequent success story could one day be beneficial to other AEP members. Since my election I have represented EPs in my capacity as union representative at a number of disciplinary and grievance meetings.

I am currently the North West (region 2) AEP union representative. Region 2 local representatives meet up three times a year to discuss local and wider union/professional issues. These meetings are invaluable as a support network and region 2 local reps do a great job.

I have been an EPSC member for the past eighteen months having previously sat on the PPSC, also for eighteen months. In conjunction with these positions I have been representing the NEC as a member on Editorial Board for Educational Psychology in Practice since January 2010. I have attended TUC Conferences in 2008 and 2009. I have attended the Children’s Professional Workforce Practice meetings as observer.

I assisted in the re-development of the AEP website. I have been a member of the Project Supervision Team together with selecting and supervising members on various AEP research projects. I give presentations on behalf of the AEP to various establishments to promote the Association and encourage applications for membership within the profession.
