Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Taskforce launches consultation on service improvement

The Government’s Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Taskforce is seeking suggestions from professionals who work with children and young people directly or indirectly on how mental health services could be improved for children and young people. It is calling for practical solutions and steps that may not have occurred to Taskforce members.

The Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Taskforce was established to consider some of the challenges facing mental health services for children and young people, and to find ways to tackle these problems across the system.

The consultation looks at:

  • Data and standards
  • Access and prevention
  • A coordinated system
  • Vulnerable groups and inequalities

Of particular interest to the AEP it includes questions on early intervention, the role of the family in the early years and access to mental health services, particularly for vulnerable groups.

Responses to the consultation will inform the Taskforce’s recommendations, which will be published and presented to ministers in the spring. The closing date for comments is 5 December 2014. AEP members may wish to submit their own responses or send their comments to alice.campbell-cree@whitehouseconsulting.co.uk BY DECEMBER 1ST for compilation in a broader AEP response
