School is the ideal place for young people to receive support, as it is a comfortable, friendly and familiar environment for them.’

FJYPB member

The Family Justice Young People's Board (FJYPB) is a group of children and young people aged between 8 and 25 years old who have either had direct experience of the family justice system or have an interest in children's rights and the family courts.  FJYPB members help raise awareness, amongst those who work directly with children and young people, of how children and young people experiencing family separation including family court proceedings can be better supported.

Based on their own experiences, members of the FJYPB have produced a poster to help schools to signpost children and young people involved in the family courts, or experiencing family separation, to information that may be useful to them. The FJYPB members would like to encourage schools to display this poster, and to add a named member of staff, so that children and young people know how to access support if they need it and know who to talk to if they are finding things difficult.

The FJYPB poster can be downloaded from the Cafcass website, which also provides more information about the FJYPB and the resources they have produced to help children and young people with experience of the family courts: https://www.cafcass.gov.uk/family-justice-young-peoples-board/
