The Centre for Social Justice has found that only 12.3% of the most disadvantaged students in England access full-time education by the time they are 19 years old. Their report found that one of the biggest barriers they faced is poor attainment, falling, on average, 18 months behind their peers by the time they take their GCSEs. For high-achieving disadvantaged students, they also found that the predictive grades system creates problems for them, with the most disadvantaged more likely to be under predicted when compared with their peers.
