The Schools Cuts coalition of six unions which is campaigning for more funding in schools, has conducted research which finds that despite recent Government announcements of additional funding, 80% of schools still have less funding per pupil in real terms in 2020 than they did in 2015. The coalition claims that despite the Government’s pledge to invest an extra £7.1 billion in schools in England over the next three years, there will still be a shortfall of £2.5 billion as a result of cuts. The report finds that education for 16 to 19 year olds has been particularly badly hit.
