Following the results of the local elections, Leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer conducted a reshuffle of the Shadow Cabinet.
The reshuffle saw Wes Streeting promoted to the newly created position of Shadow Secretary of State for Child Poverty. Prior to this, he held the position of Shadow Minister for Schools and is the former National Union of Students President. He has said that he will continue to work closely with Kate Green, who has remained in her role as the Shadow Secretary of State for Education.It is expected that the new Shadow Minister for Schools will be announced in due course.
