The Psychology and Wellbeing Service is a dynamic, innovative and high quality service that applies psychology and evidence-based practice (grounded in theory and research) to bring about change in the lives of children and young people (0 – 25 years of age) in Windsor and Maidenhead. The service currently covers Educational Psychology, Wellbeing, Systemic Wellbeing and Early Years Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND). We work collaboratively with schools, parents/carers, children and young people (CYP) early years providers, colleges, social care, health and a wide range of Early Help services. The service is currently co-designing with education, social care and health partners a systemic and multi-disciplinary Experts at Hand model that will enable earlier, more effective support to CYP with SEND, parents/carers and schools and provides whole school and cluster setting support, tailored guidance, strategic and evidence based advice, promoting inclusion for all.

The Educational Psychologists apply psychology in working with educational staff, parents/ carers, children and young people and other services as part of traded services in order to generate solutions to concerns and facilitate positive change and outcomes, while covering Educational Health and Care Needs Assessments, statutory responsibilities for children and young people with SEND.

About Role

●    Apply a wide range of evidence based psychological assessments, interventions, research/evaluation skills and practices at an individual, group, whole school and Local Authority level.
●    Promote and enhance the educational, emotional and psychological development of the children and young people in Windsor & Maidenhead
●    Work collaboratively both within the Psychology and Wellbeing Team and across the other teams in education, early help, social care and experts at hand.
●    Provide the link for a small patch of schools across the borough, enabling a broad variety of work, using psychology and research creatively and ensuring CYP’s outcomes are always the central focus.
●    Be a part of developing creative solutions, training and interventions, including research developments and experts at hand to provide whole setting/cluster support, tailored guidance , strategic advice and group level interventions.

About you: our role specification

  •  Educated to postgraduate level with the relevant professional qualification in Educational
  • Psychology. Doctorate or Masters in Educational Psychology
  •  Eligible for BPS chartered membership
  • HCPC registered (Newly Qualified Educational Psychologists, HCPC registration following university doctorate award)
  • Full driving licence and use of a car for work
  • An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
