Conwy Council - Educational Psychologist

Apply Here

Are you looking for your first Educational Psychologist post in a service where you will be supported, valued and encouraged to develop?

Conwy Educational Psychology Service is a friendly, well-established and highly supportive team based in one of the most beautiful parts of North Wales. We are seeking enthusiastic Educational Psychologists and Year 2 or Year 3 Trainee Educational Psychologists who would like to develop their practice in a service committed to equity in education, collaborative working and continuous professional growth.

Applicants must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), or, in the case of trainee EP’s, expecting to have their registration confirmed following the completion of their recognised training course.

We are proud of our nurturing team culture, where psychologists work together, share expertise and support one another. Whether you are approaching qualification or already qualified, you will receive high-quality supervision and opportunities to develop your confidence, skills and professional interests.

What can Conwy offer you?

  • A welcoming, experienced and supportive team, sitting within an ambitious, dedicated and well-integrated wider education service.
  • A high-quality, high-priority supervision and mentoring programme, including bi-weekly group supervision.
  • Opportunities to work alongside experienced practitioners and senior psychologists.
  • Flexible and agile working arrangements.
  • A varied role across mainstream and specialist settings.
  • Opportunities to contribute to innovative practice and service development.
  • A strong commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Close multi-agency working with schools, health and social care partners.
  • The opportunity to live and work in a stunning coastal and rural area with easy access to Eryri National Park (Snowdonia).

Educational Psychology plays a central role within Conwy's developing Additional Learning Needs services. As a relatively small service, psychologists have genuine opportunities to contribute to service development, shape local practice and have their voice heard.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a values-led service that applies psychology at individual, group and systemic levels and is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.

We welcome applications from psychologists with a range of skills, interests and experiences. Most importantly, we are looking for colleagues who are passionate about applying psychology, developing equity in education and making a positive difference to children, young people and their families.

The ability to converse with service users through the medium of Welsh is desirable and applications from Welsh learners are welcome.

Due to the nature of the post the successful candidate will be subject to a disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service

If you are looking for a service where you can grow, contribute and thrive, we would love to hear from you.

This role offers flexible working options for a work life balance. This can include adjusting your working day and hybrid working, i.e. a balance of office and home working.

Welsh Language Skills: The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post. We are committed to our Welsh language and are proud of our Welsh culture. We welcome applications in both Welsh and English and application forms received in either language will not be treated less favourably than each other. We’re passionate about supporting and encouraging you to use your Cymraeg whatever your level. We offer free classes at all levels, in-person and on-line to support you.

For informal discussion please contact Dr Kate Swindon, Principal Educational Psychologist, 01492 575173 or Dr Eleri Bevan, Senior Educational Psychologist, 01492 574287.
