Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and families? Do you bring compassion, curiosity, collaboration, conversation, and courage to your practice? If so, Tameside is looking for you.

The Role
Tameside Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated practitioner to support the development and growth of our new and innovative service. Tameside is an evolving service and as such provides a unique opportunity for practitioners to practice an ethical model of service delivery and shape the focus of delivery. We are building a service that has high expectations of practitioners, but also provides a positive and innovative working environment, where decisions are made as a team and everyone’s contribution is valued.

Currently we are involved in influencing and shaping the wider SEND support systems and the ‘Expert at Hand’ programme. As part of our role we advocate for our most vulnerable pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, neurodiversity and the early years. In addition to this we are developing our therapeutic offer for CYP and school staff, through the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Our initial model of service delivery was co-produced with Tameside children and young people (CYP). This has led us to trial a community psychology-based approach and are constantly aiming to gain feedback from service users so that we work in a way that reflects the needs of the community in which we serve. Tameside has links with Salford and Bury EPS which means there will be support and development opportunities across all three LA’s.

These core values of our service are: Kindness; Curiosity; Connection; Authenticity and Reflection. Our mission is: Applying psychology collaboratively to facilitate change through hope and creativity.

Tameside EPS has an influential role in the development and implementation of council policy and strategy. We have good links across Greater Manchester and with the University of Manchester, including members of our team working on the EP Doctorate.
