Specialist Practitioner Educational Psychologist

We are seeking to appoint an Educational Psychologist who will contribute to the effective support of Flying Start children, as well as children and families who are supported by the Community Wellbeing and Resilience Service (CWRS) in RCT.

We are an evolving and growing multi-agency team (referred to formally as CWRS MAT) comprised of Senior Specialist Practitioner Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapist and Childcare Advisory Officers. The aim of the team is to support good quality everyday practice, provide advice, guidance and evidence based therapeutic interventions.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring psychologically informed support for children, young people and their families is embedded across the wider teams within the service area. The role will involve working directly with children and young people in order to inform/ develop intervention strategies, as well as with professionals and parents/carers to help to meet the developmental, emotional and wellbeing needs for those in their care. The post holder will be expected to collaborate with multiple teams across the service, as well as other agencies, to implement change at a systemic level; this role also comprises developing and delivering training.

The post will be based in Ty Elai, Williamstown, with expectation of one day a week being in the office; agile working will otherwise apply. As a Specialist Educational Psychologist you will be required to work and travel across Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Although based in the Community Wellbeing and Resilience Service, support and supervision is also provided from our Rhondda Cynon Taf Educational Psychology Service. You will also be able to take advantage of the excellent CPD opportunities offered by this service.

Applicants must be professionally qualified and registered with the HCPC. 

Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council.

Salary: Soulbury Pay Scale points 3 to 8 with up to 3 SPA points (previous SPA points will be honoured).
