West Sussex County Council - Educational Psychologist

Apply Here

West Sussex EPS is growing to add to our already strong and established team. The service consists of four area teams managed by senior educational psychologists and supported by assistant psychologists with office bases in Chichester, Worthing and Horsham. We are looking to appoint EPs who are keen to work in a creative, friendly and nurturing service that is passionate about the application of person centred approaches to support all our work

Wellbeing, peer support, supervision and supporting learning and development are fundamental to our values and team approach. Team members are involved in a wide range of projects aligned to West Sussex priorities. Current examples include ‘Local Inclusion in Schools’ multi-agency organisational change; person centred approaches and promoting racial equity in educational psychology services. Alongside external training, we have an exciting termly in house CPD programme and strong links with local doctoral training programmes and are a popular placement choice for TEPs.

We promote inclusion through our group and individual consultation offer to schools. In addition, we contribute and take a lead in a range of initiatives to local schools/settings which enables the service to broaden the range of work undertaken by our EPs across the LA such as:

  • Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) training and support
  • Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) programme
  • Well being including the EP offer in Mental Health Support Teams (Thought-Full)
  • Portage, Early Years, Joint delivery of Early Bird and Early Bird Plus
  • Virtual school offer

Flexible and remote working arrangements actively support EPs to optimise work schedules and encourage a healthy work/life balance.

If you are motivated and want to shape and develop yourself, and our service, this could be a fantastic opportunity. We hope you would like to be part of establishing and evolving the service to move forward, whilst maintaining excellent standards of delivery on our statutory requirements.

All applicants must be professionally qualified and HCPC registered. We are also keen to accept applications from either final year Trainee EPs or those due to qualify in 2026.
