Discuss issues that matter to you: submit an AGM motion

28/05/2026

This year's Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in person on Thursday 12th November 2026 as part of the AEP Annual Conference, which is taking place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, near Reading.

The AGM is the ‘supreme decision-making body of the Association’ and is open to all AEP members to attend and member participation is vital to ensure the democratic running of the association.

We invite members to submit motions for consideration at the AGM. If there are particular issues you wish to bring to the attention of the NEC or AEP members, or want to influence AEP policy, please propose a motion to the AGM for debate.

Motions must have a proposer and a seconder (who must be either full or trainee members of the AEP). It is expected that both the proposer and seconder will attend the AGM in order to support their motion or arrange other eligible member/s to do this on their behalf. You can find guidance on writing motions here.

Please note: motions should be a maximum of 500 words in length, and should be submitted via email no later than noon on 3rd September 2026.

Please send your motions to vanessa@aep.org.uk before the deadline. Please not hesitate to get in touch with any questions or if you require any guidance.

Blog: SEND Reforms: The Schools White Paper – Dr Sean Octigan
One of my big work strands over April and May was to respond to the government consultation on the SEND reforms proposed in the Schools White Paper, published by the DfE on 23 February 2026. As both an educational psychologist (EP) and an AEP official, this process has given me lots of time to reflect on the White Paper and, whilst I can’t cover everything it contains in a short blog, I will try and articulate some hopes and concerns on what the Experts at Hand Fund, Inclusion bases, and plans for EHCPs might mean for our members.
