London Borough of Hackney - Senior Educational Psychologist

Apply Here

Hackney Education provides a range of services to support the education of children, young people, and adults in our inner London borough. Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work. Within our diverse borough we serve a wide range of children and young people. We have a particular focus on supporting less advantaged families: Hackney figures in the 10% most deprived boroughs in England on a number of measures.

Hackney Education’s key priority is to improve the life chances of every child, young person, and learner: making Hackney the most forward-looking education system in the UK, where schools, settings and partners provide an exciting environment which ensures inclusion and success for everyone. We see our borough as being one of the best places in the country for young people to grow, learn, develop, and achieve –and one of the best places for colleagues to work and thrive in our education system.

Details of the role:
There are exciting developments afoot here in Hackney. We are continually developing partnerships across the borough and as a result we are expanding as a team requiring an increased Senior EP capacity to provide high quality supervision in the service as well as taking on strategic leadership responsibilities as they arise.

The Educational Psychology Service is highly valued by educational settings and other professionals in Hackney. We employ a consultative style of service delivery, and we have a commitment to the development and learning opportunities of all EPs in the team to explore areas of professional interest. We offer a rich and varied working experience as an EP in Hackney. EPs work within the Virtual School, Mental Health in Schools Teams, CAMHS, Social Care teams and we have other diverse commissions offering exciting opportunities to develop practice . We also have EPs connected to 3 of the London EP training courses, delivering VIG (Video Interaction Guidance) interventions and training ELSAs. We are continually refining our services and exploring different ways of applying our psychological skills.

We are looking for a Senior Educational Psychologist who can provide high quality supervision to an EP team working across ever broadening workstreams and partnerships. The SEP will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to set and deliver strategic goals both internally within the EPS and also in collaboration with partners across agencies.

  • Are you able to operate with confidence, flexibility, and professionalism in all contexts?
  • Do you love applying your psychological skills and knowledge in the context of service leadership?
  • Do you demonstrate a reflective approach and excellent interpersonal skills to contribute to the service, both as an individual and member of a team?

If your answer is yes, then we are the team for you!

We offer a comprehensive induction and supervision programme including peer supervision, flexible working hours and an essential car user allowance. We provide excellent IT facilities, including iPads, and are based alongside multi-disciplinary partners in a modern open plan building in the heart of Hackney.
