Swansea Council - Educational Psychologist

Apply Here

Swansea Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is looking for a dynamic and creative Educational Psychologist (EP) to assist the Local Authority in delivering high quality psychological services to children, young people, families, schools and partner agencies.

Further information
Swansea EPS is a warm, welcoming and supportive team of forward-thinking psychologists with a wide range of interests. We value the importance of reflective practice and as such provide a variety of opportunities for individual supervision and regular group peer supervision to support you in your role. We also offer a thorough induction programme.

We are committed to inclusive, person centred practice that values diversity and has high aspirations for all learners. Applicants should have experience of working within a consultation-based model of service delivery and show an understanding of the unique contribution EPs can make to the education and emotional wellbeing of all.

The EPS has a long history of providing high quality psychological services to schools as well as providing training and capacity building activities.  Applicants will need to evidence collaborative and team working skills that can contribute to the development of the EPS. A sound knowledge of the ALNET Act (2018) and The Additional Learning Needs Code for Wales (2021) is key.

The successful candidate will report to the Principal and Senior Educational Psychologists.

Swansea EPS offers a flexible working system to promote a positive work life balance.

We welcome applications from qualified Educational Psychologists who are registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or are in their final year of a doctoral training programme in educational psychology that confers eligibility to register with the HCPC as an EP.

Safeguarding
Within Swansea Council there is a “Safeguarding is Everybody’s Business” principle, and this applies to all Swansea Council employees, elected members, volunteers and contractors.

Members are advised to consider fully the implications of successful applications particularly in relation to posts which would entail a move outside the UK, where legislation and cultural issues in other countries should be considered in relation to their personal circumstances. “From time to time, the AEP will carry adverts for agencies supplying EPs to local authorities. Where this is the case, we will have secured agreement from the agency that they will not supply EPs to those authorities we remain in dispute with.
