Educational Psychologist – Lewisham Virtual School
Supporting Children Looked After and Children with a Social Worker
Are you committed to making a meaningful difference for vulnerable children and young people? Lewisham’s Educational Psychology Team, working with the Virtual School, seeks a dedicated Educational Psychologist to join us under the guidance of our Senior Specialist EP. In this role, you will support Children Looked After (CLA) and those with a social worker, focusing on trauma-informed, relationship-based practice and systemic change across the borough.
As an Educational Psychologist within Lewisham Virtual School, you will develop advanced skills in supporting children and young people affected by developmental trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Guided by a Senior Specialist EP, you will engage in complex casework, refine your trauma-informed formulation and assessment skills, and contribute to innovative practice throughout the borough.
This role will give you the scope to work intensively with individual children and young people. Our children deserve thoughtful, compassionate, and responsive support. You will provide psychologically informed consultations and interventions for carers, teachers, social workers, and other professionals, ensuring tailored, compassionate support. As part of a skilful multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with social workers, CAMHS, specialist teachers, foster carers, and families, fostering joined up, coordinated support.
A key responsibility is to help create safe, inclusive learning environments by developing and delivering training to schools, promoting relational, restorative, and trauma-informed approaches. You will be expected to actively champion anti-racist practice in all aspects of your work, helping ensure every child feel a genuine sense of belonging.
We are looking for an Educational Psychologist who is curious, compassionate, committed to social justice and anti-racist practice, and skilled in relationship-building. This is an ideal position for someone who wants to build their knowledge and skills in working for this vulnerable group of children. If you thrive in collaborative, multi-disciplinary settings and want to empower vulnerable children to achieve their potential, we encourage you to apply.
Applicants must be professionally qualified and registered with the HCPC.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
