About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work within the developing Educational Psychology team in Gloucestershire. The post will support the Educational Psychology Service in delivering a wide range of activities for children and young people in schools and settings, under the supervision of a qualified Educational Psychologist. 

About You

The role will involve:

  • Undertaking information gathering, observations, assessments and interventions with children and young people and their parents/carers
  • Supporting the development and delivery of psycho‑educational programmes under supervision
  • Information gathering to support SEND processes
  • Carrying out literature searches to develop courses, packages and materials
  • Collecting data and producing brief reports to support development, training and preventative/project work
  • Supporting evaluation of service delivery
  • Auditing case files and providing general administrative support
  • Maintaining accurate and retrievable records and providing written feedback
  • Attending service meetings and contributing to service aims
  • Reporting day‑to‑day to a Senior or nominated Educational Psychologist

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • A minimum 2:1 honours degree in Psychology (or recognised equivalent)
  • Graduate Basis for Registration/Chartership (GBR/GBC) with the British Psychological Society
  • Significant post‑qualifying experience working directly with children and parents (e.g. teaching, youth work, mentoring or emotional wellbeing support)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • A full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Demonstrable understanding of how psychology has influenced practice

The expectation is that Assistant Educational Psychologists will wish to embark on the professional doctorate in Educational Psychology and are seeking relevant experience to support their doctoral application.
