Contextual Consulting - ACT in early childhood (4-11 years): Practical skills for supporting children and parents with Dr Lisa Coyne

10/09/2026

Through playful, developmentally sensitive approaches rooted in behaviour analysis, Dr Lisa Coyne will show you how to support kids and their families with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Help children build resilience, regulate emotions, and live in line with what matters most to them.

You will learn:

  • The DNA-V model: a developmental ACT framework for working with young children and parents
  • Practical behavioural strategies to support effective parenting skills.
  • Tools to spot and address skill gaps behind inflexibility, emotional struggles, and challenging behaviour
  • Ways to evoke and shape values-guided behaviour in children and parents
  • Child-friendly techniques to build core psychological flexibility skills: being present, stepping back from unhelpful thoughts, tuning into what matters, and taking meaningful actions. This program is sponsored by Contextual Consulting and is approved for 7 CE credits for psychologists.

Ideal for psychologists, therapists, and other mental health professionals working with children and families. No prior experience with ACT is required but familiarity with behavioural or contextual therapies will be beneficial.
