Senior and Maingrade EP roles:

We are looking for a Senior and Maingrade Educational Psychologists to join our friendly and supportive team.

Senior EP roles:

Senior Educational Psychologists play an active role in further developing our evolving work practices and promoting positive outcomes for children, young people and families.

As a Senior EP you will have a key role in supporting the Principal Educational Psychologist. You will work collaboratively as part of the senior leadership team to develop and support service delivery, strategic planning, and LA initiatives, as well as providing supervision for Educational Psychologists, Trainee Educational Psychologists (TEPs) and Assistant Educational Psychologists (AEPs).

The Senior role includes:

  • Representing the service at LA and multidisciplinary panels
  • Supervision of EPs / TEPs / AEPs working in the EP team
  • Working closely with the SEND Team to support the SEND Statutory process
  • Working closely with a range of partners in the delivery of our service
  • Support with the operational planning, policy matters and service delivery

You will have at least three years’ experience as a qualified Educational Psychologist and registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Applications from candidates who wish to work part-time are welcomed.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest offers a recruitment and retention bonus of

£2000 paid annually (subject to conditions) to new Educational Psychologists joining the team. New qualified Educational Psychologists joining us will receive £1000 on commencement and £1000 on successful completion of the first 6 months (pro rata).

Assistant EP roles:

We are seeking to appoint two Assistant Educational Psychologists (AEP) to join our Educational Psychologist Service team in Waltham Forest.

As an AEP you will provide support to Educational Psychologists (EPs) in schools and the wider community, as well as participating in the delivery and evaluation of programme interventions.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic Assistant Educational Psychologist who is planning a future career as an Educational Psychologist. The successful candidates will support initiatives to promote children’s well-being and learning through early intervention and prevention. The Assistant Educational Psychologist may be asked to support Senior EPs, EPs and Trainee EPs in their work with schools, parents and other professionals. The role may also include some administrative tasks.

A programme of induction and training will be provided, offering excellent preparation for applying for professional educational psychology doctoral training programmes.

You will need a good psychology degree (2:1 or above) and Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society prior to application. It is an essential requirement to have previous relevant experience of applying psychology to work with children and young people in educational or community settings.

Senior EP: Soulbury Scale B 8 - 11 plus up to 3 SPA points 

Maingrade EP: Soulbury Scale A 5 – 10 plus up to 3 SPA points 

Assistant EP: Soulbury AEP Scale 2 - 5.

Previous SPA points will be honoured.
